As part of an upgrade to the rail siding at Synlait’s north end of the Dunsandel site, we installed a Vertebrate sliding gate designed for enhanced pest control and robust security. This gate is based on the popular Rodent Resistant Gate but features extra-height flat sheet cladding to keep out not only rodents but also rabbits, stoats, possums, and similar pests.
When in the closed position, the gate kneels to seal across the bottom structural beam of the gate using a bespoke wheel system. At the same time, the side uprights at each end of the gate seal between the gate itself, and the gate posts, delivering superior containment and protection.
The electrical system was a complex, interconnected setup designed to meet stringent safety requirements from both KiwiRail and Synlait. This included advanced integration for operational safety and compliance.
The gate is motorised with our DG800 Industrial 3-Phase Gate Operator, controlled by a PLC-based logic controller via a Variable Speed Drive for smooth, reliable performance.
